Plastering
What we do
Plastering is where we started, and it is still the trade we do most of. Whether it is a single ceiling that has seen better days or a whole house that needs re-skimming after a renovation, the aim is the same: a flat, smooth, even surface that takes paint beautifully.
We also have great knowledge of the building regulations when it comes to using the different types of plasterboard: moisture-resistant board in bathrooms, fire-rated board where it is required, and acoustic board where noise matters. We make sure the right board goes in the right place.
What is included
Plastering we take on
- Skimming and re-skimming
A fresh skim coat over existing plaster to take out cracks, patches and old textures.
- Plasterboarding
Dot-and-dab or screwed to timber, taped and finished ready for skim.
- Stud walls
New partition walls built, boarded, insulated where needed and plastered.
- Ceilings and artex
Artex covered or over-boarded, damaged ceilings repaired or replaced.
- Making good
Patching after electrics, plumbing, damp work or removed chimney breasts.
- Clean finish
We keep the workplace clean and tidy and leave the plaster ready to decorate.

Plastering: common questions
Fresh plaster needs to dry out fully, usually somewhere between a few days and a couple of weeks depending on the thickness, the room and the time of year. It should be an even pale colour all over before you paint, and the first coat should be a watered-down mist coat.
Not everything. We ask you to clear small and delicate items; we cover floors and anything left in the room, and we tidy at the end of each day.
Yes, and often that is the sensible option. We will tell you honestly when a patch will look fine, and when a full skim is the better answer. If it is, we will price both so you can choose.
