Privacy policy
How PEARLS AND DROPS LTD collects, uses and protects your personal information.
Introduction
At PEARLS AND DROPS LTD we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website or ask us to quote for work, what we do with it, how long we keep it and what rights you have over it.
It is written in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it properly.
Who we are
PEARLS AND DROPS LTD is the data controller for the information described in this policy. That means we decide what is collected and what happens to it.

Information we collect
When you send us an enquiry
The quote form on this website asks for:
- your first name and surname
- your email address
- your telephone number
- the type of work you are interested in
- your message, including whatever you choose to tell us about the property and the job
Please only include what is needed to price the work. There is no need to send us anything sensitive through the form.
Technical information
- Your IP address is included in the enquiry email we receive, so that we can identify abusive or automated submissions.
- A one way scrambled version of your IP address is stored on our server for up to one hour. It is used only to limit how many messages can be sent from one connection, which keeps the form usable. It cannot be turned back into your IP address.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard web server access logs, which usually include IP addresses, dates and the pages requested.
What we do not collect
This website has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising trackers and no profiling of any kind. We do not buy personal data from anyone and we do not build marketing lists.
How we use your information
We use what you send us to:
- reply to your enquiry and prepare a quotation
- arrange a site visit and carry out the work if you decide to go ahead
- keep in touch with you about a job that is under way
- keep the accounting and tax records we are legally required to keep
- protect the website from spam and abuse
We do not send marketing emails, and we never sell, rent or pass your details to anyone for their own marketing. If you contact us and decide not to go ahead, that is the end of it.
Our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on:
- Steps prior to a contract, when you ask us to quote, and performance of a contract once you engage us.
- Legitimate interests, to respond to enquiries and to keep the website working and free of spam. We have considered your rights and this processing is limited to what is needed for those purposes.
- Legal obligation, for accounting and tax records.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies of its own. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel and no social media tracking on any page, which is why you are not asked to accept cookies when you arrive.
The one exception worth knowing about: the page fonts are served by Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. Nothing else on this site contacts a third party.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work
- Up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Customer and job records
- Six years after the end of the work, which is the period required for tax and accounting.
- Spam protection data
- One hour.
- Web server logs
- As set by our hosting provider, typically a few weeks.
Who we share it with
Only where it is necessary:
- our web hosting provider, which stores this website and its server logs
- our email provider, which delivers and stores the enquiry emails we receive
- our accountant, and HMRC, for records we are required to keep
These providers act on our instructions and cannot use your information for their own purposes. We do not transfer your information outside the UK except where one of these providers stores data abroad under appropriate safeguards.
Keeping it safe
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss. In practice that means the site is served over an encrypted connection, form submissions are checked and rate limited, and access to the mailbox that receives enquiries is restricted to the people who need it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it
- have inaccurate information corrected
- ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
- ask us to restrict how we use it
- object to processing that we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests
- receive your information in a portable format
- withdraw consent, where our use of your information is based on consent
To exercise any of these, email Queries@pearlsanddrops.com or call +44 7969 506083. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we have the chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection:
